INFORMAZIONI STORICHE

L'ARBOREA fu costruita per la Compagnia Italiana Transatlantica. Nel 1932 fu ceduta alla Società Tirrenia Flotte Riunite Florio -Citra di genova e nel 1937 a Tirrenia S.A. di Navigazione Napoli .Il 12.06.1949 fu requisita dalla Marina Militare e fu iscritta con la sigla D. 5, nel ruolo del naviglio ausiliario dello Stato, destinata alla scorta dei convogli. Nel settembre 1943 fu derequisita e radiata dal ruolo del naviglio ausiliario. Catturata dai Tedeschi a Durazzo il 10 settembre 1943. Il 12 gennaio 1944, mentre era alla fonda Sebenico, subì vari attacchi aerei e il 17 gennaio , in conseguenza delle gravi avarie e degli incendi, affondò nel luogo stesso in cui si trovava.

ARBOREA was built for the Italian Transatlantic Company. In 1932 it was sold to the Tirrenia Flotte Riunite Florio Company -Citra di Genova and in 1937 to Tirrenia S.A. di Navigazione Napoli. The 12.06.1949 was requisitioned by the Navy and was registered with the initials D. 5, in the role of the auxiliary navy of the State, intended to escort the convoys. In September 1943 it was derequisita and radiata from the role of the auxiliary naviglio. Captured by the Germans at Durres on 10 September 1943. On 12 January 1944, while at the base of Šibenik, it underwent various air strikes and on 17 January, as a result of serious damage and fires, sank in the very place where it was
