INFORMAZIONI
STORICHE
This ship was built for the SPAN (the Neapolitan Society of Navigation) in No. 1956 at Navalmeccanica Shipyard of Castellammare di Stabia (building n. 611). It was the third of four sister ships: ISLAND PROCIDA (building 609 - IMO. 5,165,104), PONZA ISLAND (building 610) - IMO. 5165099) and PARTENOPE (building 612 - IMO. 6270956). These four ships were used on routes from Naples to Procida, Ischia, Ponza and Ventotene. Following the four ships were modified at the shipyard pilgrim Naples, it was installed a ramp at the stern to embark n. 8 cars. In 1976, the SPAN became Campania Regional Marittima SpA (Caremar). The Tragara ALISUR was sold to the Spanish company, which operated in the Canary Islands. The ship was renamed ALISUR ROJO, and later ALISUR BLANCO. For a short period of time was used on the route Cyprus-Libano.Nel 1987 was sold to Kassandros Naftiki Etaireia (Kassandros Ship. Co.), and renamed KASSANDRA. It was recorded in Thessaloniki, and modified to accommodate 400 passengers. It was used for daily cruises to Athos. In 1989, it was bought by Evangelos and Konstantinos Hatzigiannakis Hollandezos, and was used for the transport of the Greek islands. In 1998 he was laid up and abandoned. Auctioned by the local authorities, it was bought to be converted into a cruise ship day, between the islands but due to lack of documentation due to abandonment the new owner did not obtain all the certifications and the ship was paid for about 2 years back in disarmament. During this period, the ship ran aground and unmooring. Later the ship was sold to be scrapped and towed to Aliaga. 4 of twins, only PARTENOPE still in service with the name of MINERVA. It was converted into a research vessel.
