Questa nave, fu commissionata e costruita nel 1906 come yacht privato di lusso per Robert Stewart ed era denominata S/Y Minona . Fu progettata da G.L Watson & Co. e costruita da Ramage & Ferguson, Leith, Scozia. Sotto la proprietà di George Coats, 1° barone Glentanar, le fu offerto di prestare servizio durante la prima guerra mondiale per la Royal Navy britannica. Minona entrò in servizio nell'ottobre del 1914 come nave da pattugliamento ausiliaria ed era equipaggiata con armamenti: 2 cannoni da 6 libbre, 1-6 libbre di contraerea per aiutare negli sforzi bellici per respingere gli U-Boot nemici. Alla fine della guerra, Minona fu congedata dai suoi incarichi di guerra il 6 giugno 1919.
Durante questo periodo, tra i proprietari più illustri di Minona c'era il maggiore Andrew Coats, fratello di G. Coats e ammiraglio del Mudhook Yacht Club. Dopo essere stata sollevata dagli incarichi di guerra, riprese il suo ruolo di yacht a vapore privato di lusso. Fu ribattezzata Cortynia nel 1947 e di nuovo S/Y Oddyseia nel 1947. Nel 1967 fu acquistata da Richard Burton come regalo per Elizabeth Taylor, che firmò i documenti di proprietà Richard Taylor. La coppia la ribattezzò Kalizma, un acronimo per i nomi delle loro tre figlie Kate, Liza e Maria. Richard Burton avrebbe acquistato lo yacht per 192.000 $ e ne avrebbe speso il doppio per rinnovarlo con nuovi interni. Elizabeth Taylor aveva assunto Arthur Barbosa per ridisegnare gli interni del Kalizma. Il 21 maggio 2022, a Londra, alla 17a edizione annuale dei BOAT International World Superyacht Awards. Il Kalizma è stato annunciato vincitore di un "Judges' Special Award" ed è stato nominato per il "Best Rebuilt Superyacht Award".
Nell'aprile 2023, il Kalizma è stato coinvolto in una sparatoria nel Golfo di Aden perchè l'equipaggio di sicurezza della nave avrebbe scambiato la guardia costiera yemenita per pirati. Durante la sparatoria fu ucciso un ufficiale della guardia costiera. Tuttavia, Saraf ha negato le segnalazioni e ha sostenuto che i primi colpi furono sparati da veri pirati.

This vessel was commissioned and built in 1906 as a luxury private yacht for Robert Stewart and was named S/Y Minona. She was designed by G.L Watson & Co. and built by Ramage & Ferguson, Leith, Scotland. Under the ownership of George Coats, 1st Baron Glentanar, she was offered for service during the First World War for the British Royal Navy. Minona entered service in October 1914 as an auxiliary patrol vessel and was equipped with 2 x 6 pounder guns, 1-6 pounder AA guns to aid in the war effort to repel enemy U-boats. During this period, Minona's notable owners included Major Andrew Coats, brother of G. Coats and Admiral of the Mudhook Yacht Club. After being decommissioned, she resumed her role as a private luxury steam yacht. She was renamed Cortynia in 1947 and again S/Y Oddyseia in 1947. The yacht underwent a major restoration with her engine converted from steam to diesel between 1954 and 1955. In 1967, she was purchased by Richard Burton as a gift for Elizabeth Taylor, who signed the ownership papers Richard Taylor. The couple renamed her Kalizma, an acronym for the names of their three daughters Kate, Liza and Maria. Richard Burton reportedly purchased the yacht for $192,000 and spent double that amount renovating her with new interiors. Elizabeth Taylor hired Arthur Barbosa to redesign Kalizma's interior. After the restoration, the classic yacht adorned an exquisite art collection that included works by Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso, as well as an extensive library to her owners' taste. Kalizma passed through a series of owners after the 1970s, including Peter de Savary and Vijay Mallya. The yacht was purchased in 2019 by Shirish Saraf and he undertook an extensive restoration in 2020 to restore the classic yacht. She was renamed in the Cook Islands. It has been called the "largest superyacht in Hollywood history", and in 2021 the classic yacht was ranked among the top 100 superyachts in the Asia-Pacific.
On May 21, 2022, in London, at the 17th annual BOAT International World Superyacht Awards. Kalizma was announced as the winner of a "Judges' Special Award" and was nominated for the "Best Rebuilt Superyacht Award".
In April 2023, Kalizma was involved in a shooting incident in the Gulf of Aden after the ship's security crew allegedly mistook Yemeni coast guards for pirates. A coast guard officer was killed during the shooting. However, Saraf denied the reports and claimed that the first shots were fired by real pirates.
